In 2010, Sílvia joined Maria do Carmo-Fonseca's lab in IMM to study how chromatin impacts on gene expression regulation. In 2013, Sílvia joined Sérgio de Almeida's lab in iMM. There, she was studying the role of chromatin during transcription and DNA damage response and she was responsible for projects accounting and laboratory management. In 2018, Sílvia received a GABBA PhD fellowship and now she is studying the impact of the 3D nuclear positioning in gene expression.
